Privacy Policy

DaoDaily is operated by Beijing Yingbian Technology Co., Ltd. ("we", "our", "us"). This policy explains what data we process across the DaoDaily website (daodaily.app), the DaoDaily Chrome extension, and the DaoDaily mobile app — and the choices you have.
Our guiding principle: collect as little as possible. The Chrome extension collects nothing at all.
1. The Chrome Extension — zero data collection
- No account, no sign-up, no email address required.
- No analytics, no tracking, no advertising identifiers, no cookies.
- Your settings (wallpaper and display preferences) are stored only in your browser's local storage and never leave your device.
- Daily verses and hexagram reflections are bundled inside the extension and work offline. When available, the extension may fetch public daily content from a read-only channel; these requests carry no account, identifier, or personal data.
- We do not sell, rent, or share personal information — the extension has none to share.
2. This Website
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics (GA4), provided by Google, to understand aggregate website traffic (pages visited, approximate region derived from IP, device and browser type, referring source). GA4 sets cookies on your browser. We use this data only to improve the website; we do not use it for advertising, and we do not build individual profiles. Google's handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out via browser cookie settings, an ad blocker, or Google's opt-out tools.
- Campaign parameters. If you arrive with UTM parameters (for example from our browser extension), they are stored in your browser's local storage to attribute your install later. They are not transmitted to our own servers; Google Analytics may process them in aggregate form as described above.
- If you email us ([email protected]), we receive your email address and message content, and use them solely to respond to you.
3. The Mobile App
When the DaoDaily mobile app launches, it processes the following data:
- Account data. If you create an account (email, Sign in with Apple, or Google sign-in, via Firebase Authentication), we store your email address and an account ID. Core daily content does not require an account.
- Journal entries. Your journal and reflection entries are stored in our cloud database (Google Cloud Firestore) and linked to your account so they sync across your devices. Journals are never used for advertising, never sold, and never read by our team except where required for safety, abuse investigation, or legal compliance.
- AI conversations. When you use Ask Dao or AI journaling reflection, your messages are sent to our AI processing providers to generate a response (see §4). AI-generated content is labeled in the app, and our AI Disclaimer applies.
- Subscription status. If you subscribe to DaoDaily Pro, your purchase is processed by Apple App Store or Google Play; we receive and store only a subscription status and transaction identifier — never your payment card details.
- Reminders. If you enable the daily reminder, we store a push notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging) to deliver it.
- Diagnostics. Crash logs and basic diagnostic data (via Firebase) help us fix bugs; these are not linked to your journal content.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
- You can delete your account directly in the app (Settings → Delete account). Deletion removes your account, journal entries, and AI conversation history from our active systems within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records for legal or accounting purposes.
- Uninstalling the app without deleting your account does not delete cloud data; use in-app deletion or email us.
6. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA and similar laws)
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. To exercise any right, use in-app deletion or contact [email protected]. We do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. California residents: we do not sell or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
7. Children's Privacy
Our services are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
8. International Data Transfers
We are based in China, and our service infrastructure and AI processing providers operate in the United States and other countries. By using DaoDaily, you understand that your information will be processed in these locations, protected as described in this policy.
9. Security
We use encryption in transit (TLS), authenticated access controls, and least-privilege practices to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; if a breach affects your data, we will notify you as required by law.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our products evolve. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date; significant changes affecting the app will also be announced in the app.
