Terms of Service

Welcome to DaoDaily. These terms govern your use of the DaoDaily website, Chrome extension, and mobile app, operated by Beijing Yingbian Technology Co., Ltd. ("we", "our", "us"). By using DaoDaily, you agree to these terms.

1. The Service

DaoDaily provides daily reflective content inspired by Taoist wisdom and Eastern philosophy — verses, hexagram reflections, journaling, guided breathing, and an AI companion — through a Chrome extension, this website, and a mobile app. The service is offered for lifestyle, reflection, and entertainment purposes.

2. Not Advice — No Fortune-Telling

Content provided by DaoDaily (including AI-generated content) is for reflection and inspiration only. It is not medical, psychological, mental-health, legal, or financial advice, and it is not a substitute for professional care. If you are struggling or in crisis, please seek a qualified professional or local emergency resources. Hexagram reflections are philosophical prompts; we do not predict the future, guarantee outcomes, or provide fortune-telling services.

3. Accounts and Eligibility

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use DaoDaily.
  • Core daily content requires no account. An account is needed only for sync-enabled features such as journaling and AI conversations.
  • You may delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Delete account). See our Privacy Policy for what deletion covers.

4. Subscriptions and Billing

  • Free tier is free forever. DaoDaily Pro is offered at US$4.99 per month or US$29.99 per year (prices in USD; local pricing may vary by store and region).
  • Subscriptions are billed through your Apple App Store or Google Play account and renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your store account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.
  • You can restore previous purchases on a new device using the "Restore Purchases" option in the app, as long as you use the same store account.
  • If we change subscription prices, the store's standard notice rules apply, and the new price only takes effect at your next renewal after notice.
  • Refunds are handled under the applicable store's refund policies.

5. AI Features

  • Ask Dao and AI journaling reflections are generated by third-party large language model services via our servers. AI-generated content is labeled as such in the app.
  • AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your situation. Do not rely on it for important decisions. Our AI Disclaimer (daodaily.app/ai-disclaimer) forms part of these terms.
  • The first time you use an AI feature, we will tell you that your conversation content is sent to our AI processing providers, and ask for your consent. You can decline and continue using non-AI features.
  • You can report inappropriate AI content in the app (long-press → Report) or by emailing us; we maintain a review and takedown process.

6. Acceptable Use

  • Do not misuse the service, attempt to disrupt it, probe or reverse-engineer it, or access it by automated means.
  • Do not misrepresent the service as professional, medical, psychological, or religious counsel.
  • Do not use the service to generate, store, or distribute unlawful, harmful, or rights-infringing content. We may suspend accounts that violate these rules.

7. Intellectual Property

The DaoDaily name, artwork, software, and original written content are owned by us. Classical texts (such as the Tao Te Ching and Zhuangzi) are drawn from public-domain sources. You may not copy, redistribute, or resell our original materials without permission. Your journal entries remain yours; you grant us only the technical license needed to store and sync them for you.

8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or US$50 if you paid nothing). Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the mandatory protections of the jurisdiction where you live.

10. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time; material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date and, where appropriate, announced in the app. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
